If your flight gets cancelled prior to departure as a result of a listed covered reason, a Cancellation Plan offered by Allianz Global Assistance can provide coverage for the non-refundable portion of airfare and/or travel arrangements you’ve paid for in advance.
Let's say you have booked and paid in advance for a vacation including flights, hotel rooms, and tours -- the works. Then, just before you're supposed to leave, one of your family members unexpectedly gets sick and you need to cancel your plans. A Cancellation Plan can reimburse your prepaid, non-refundable trip costs for covered reasons such as this.
Other examples of covered reasons for cancellation include:
You can refer to a full list of covered cancellation reasons in the Cancellation Plan’s Policy of Insurance. Coverage begins on the date you purchase your coverage, as long as you haven't already left your province of residence. Plus, filing a claim is easy - you can submit it online or by calling your 24-hour assistance team.
In addition to trip cancellation coverage, the Cancellation Plan offered by Allianz Global Assistance includes the following features:
Eligible covered reasons
Trip Cancellation coverage provides valuable benefits when you have to cancel your travel for a listed covered reason such as unexpected health emergencies or legal reasons, a disaster to your home, because of a recent government-issued travel advisory, unexpected job loss, or a scheduled business meeting being cancelled. A broad range of trip cancellation reasons provides some flexibility when sudden and unexpected situations arise. Please refer to the Policy of Insurance for a full list of Covered Reasons.
When to buy trip cancellation insurance
Coverage for trip cancellation benefits are effective on the date you purchase your coverage, so long as you do so before you leave your province of residence for your trip.
Trip Interruption and Delay
Trip interruption and delay benefits can help you recover non-refundable unused trip costs if, for example, a bad storm causes you to miss your connecting flight or a family illness at home requires you to return earlier than planned. It also covers extra expenses such as hotel, meals, taxi fares and more up to the amount covered in your policy due to covered situations.
When you cancel your trip for any one of the listed Covered Reasons on your policy, you can choose between submitting your claim online or calling the 24-hour emergency assistance team to open a claim by phone.
