What happens when your
baggage is lost or delayed

There you are at the baggage carousel. Anticipating. Hoping.

20 minutes go by and every other passenger from your flight has been reunited with their bags, and are long gone. What do you do? You need your suit for the business meeting the next morning.

Here are three things you can do if your baggage is lost or delayed.

If your baggage is missing on arrival, file a claim with your airline before leaving the airport. Airlines often require losses to be reported within a limited time period for compensation. Let them know where you’ll be staying so that your bags can be delivered directly to your door. Most bags are recovered and delivered within 3 to 5 days by the airline.
Give your travel insurance provider a heads up and share the situation with them.
If your baggage is delayed for 8 hours or more, you may need some sundries to tie you over for a few days (i.e. toiletries, undergarments, shirt, skirt or suit for business meetings or presentations.) But keep your receipts...if you have a Cancellation Plan or Medical + Cancellation Plan offered by Allianz Global Assistance, Baggage Delay benefits provide reimbursement for necessities up to the dollar limit amount specified on your Confirmation of Coverage, however, you will be required to submit receipts as proof of your purchases.
