Looking forward to 2025, more than half of Canadians — 60% — plan on travelling, as revealed in Allianz Global Assistance Canada's 8th annual Vacation Confidence Index Study. When it comes to escaping the cold this winter season, 35% of Canadians express confidence that they will take a winter vacation. The Study also found that domestic vacations are expected to be more popular than previous years, with 30% of vacationers travelling within Canada. The United States (20%), Mexico and the Caribbean (19%), and Europe (14%) round out the list of top destinations for Canadians.
Despite ongoing economic concerns such as inflation, the Study revealed Canadians have a strong desire to travel, with nearly 66% of Canadians saying an annual vacation is important to them. In addition, according to the Study, the average Canadian will likely travel 1.2 times this year and anticipated vacation spending is expected to be high, an average of $4,012 per household in 2025.
In these financially trying times, roughly 67% of Canadians surveyed are considering purchasing travel insurance to protect them against monetary loss. This highlights the growing awareness of travel insurance as a key safeguard, providing peace of mind during uncertain times.
Travel insurance provides protection against the inconveniences and emergencies that Canadians identified as their top holiday travel woes including: flight delays and cancellations, weather disruptions and illnesses.
